Joseph Haggerty Spent 35 years as a vice detective and academy instructor with the Metropolitan Police Department in Washington, D.C. In 2009, he received an award, Heroes of the Heart, from Children of the Nights in California where he was recognized as one of the top ten law enforcement officers in the country for rescuing children from the street. Joe has written two novels Shame: The Story of a Pimp, written based on his experiences investigating child predators in prostitution. His second novel An Ocean in the Desert follows two private investigators who specialize in rescuing missing children. Joe is also a published poet. He’s a member of the Public Safety Writers Association.
